Free Media Creation and Editing Software

I'm cleaning out my resource folder on my computer, and I figured I'd post some more resource lists while I'm at it. Here is free software, both open source and freeware, that can be used for media creation and editing. Think audio, video, graphics, art, 3D rendering, etc.

Some of these recommendations are from my own personal usage. Some come from this Tumblr post, specifically the users socialistexan and doomslug . Other recommendations come from the technology page on the Sunbeam City (solarpunk) wiki or the IT department at my university.
